Prague Legends are being published as part of the Adapted Czech Prose series for students of Czech as a foreign language. Ten legends associated wih famous Prague locations will familiarize students with some humorous, magical, spooky and tragic tales that have been told in Prague for centuries. This volume contains not only well-known legends, such as tales of Golem, Loreta and Hanuš, the master of the Old Town Astrological Clock, but also such lesser known tales as the one about the Emmaus devils or about the origin of the rolling pins that decorate a window at Kampa near Charles Bridge. This way the Prague legends turn into an untraditional guide to Prague and a witness to its past. The publication is accompanied by clear illustrations and photographs of the places associated with the legends. It also includes a set of grammatical and lexical exercises for each text, a Czech-English-German-Russian glossary and a key to the exercises. The volume also includes an audio CD with a complete recording of the book. The publication is for students of Czech as a foreign language at A2 level.
