Samples from the manual Czeska gramatyka w pigułce
Czeska gramatyka w pigułce is a four page reference book slightly larger than A4 format, printed on both sides on laminated paper. It represents a simple overview of the most important areas of grammar which you can always have at hand. The handbook is designed for beginners and intermediate level students of Czech as a foreign language, however is also used from time to time as a quick reference by advanced speakers. It serves as a readily available orientation resource and helps fight off frustration from Czech flexion. Unlike similar existing brochures which emanate from traditional Czech grammar for Czechs and introduce foreigners to secluded areas in the language such as for the wordspředseda (chairman) or nůše (basket), it attempts to see the Czech language from the eyes of a foreigner and incorporate aspects which foreign language speakers sense and need. Popular special colour coding is used to grasp the function of gender in the language system and table declinations (Ma, Mi, F, N), - simplified conjugation patterns are introduced (-Á verbs, -Í verbs, two types of -E verbs), as is a new case order, which points out the similarities between separate cases to students (acc. sg. a gen. sg, loc. sg. -dat. sg.) and captures the second position of unstressed words in a sentence, which is of paramount importance for understanding.
